Hyun-Myung Pyo
President, Mobile Business Group, KT Corporation
Pyo Hyun-Myung, the CEO of KT, started his career as a technology researcher at the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI). At Korea Telecom Freetel (KTF), he worked as both planning and coordination manager and senior executive vice president of marketing, leading the “Have a good time” campaign.
At KT, as the senior vice president of the WiBro Business Unit, he paved the path for WiBro and WiFi—both seen as mere possibilities at the time—to take root as part of today’s social infrastructure. Taking up his post as the head of the Corporate Center in 2009, he has been working on the integration and rebirth of its corporate identities into a single olleh KT. Since 2010, as the CEO of the Mobile Business Group, KT’s mobile communications, he is in the forefront of the establishment of a “Mobile Wonderland” in Korea.
He is considered a leader in promoting recent changes and innovation at KT based on his broad experience and expertise in the communications sector, including technology, marketing and strategy. He is the author of the book Service Design Era (2008).
Recently, he has been endeavoring to encourage creative ideas from his employees and directly listening to customers through various SNS platforms under the motto of “See Different! Think Creative!” As of April 12, 2012, he is a power tweeter with 39,134 followers.
He earned his MS and PhD from Korea University and completed the Seoul National University Leadership Academy for Chief Executive Officers.
