Shaping New Hopes in the Smart Era

2012.05.22

Visionary : Hyun-Myung Pyo [President, Mobile Business Group, KT Corporation]

There are two phenomena that stand out in describing Korean society today. One is the emergence of the smart era, in which we are intelligently connected so that we have access to any information, whenever and wherever. The other is the arrival of the era of longevity (“the era of 100 years or even more”), thanks to which some expect we will finally be able to enjoy a "comfortable life for a long time." Yet many social issues and problems in Korea—such as growth without job creation, the rising numbers of the socially left behind, instability during retirement and a decrease in human interaction—are creating deep cause for concern.
As we pursue a more sustainable and convenient life, we equally must prioritize the challenges that may arise as a result.
To find the right way forward, we must make it our mission to search for coexistence between ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) and humanity.
We will hear the stories of those who have been given newfound hopes thanks to the evolution of ICT, and discuss what solutions Korea can offer in the smart era and the era of longevity.
