I remember watching a commercial on TV once, and being startled by how deeply it moved me. (If I’m remembering rightly, it was a commercial for post office insurance.) .
The commercial depicted an infant growing into a child, entering elementary school, and then college, before finding work, getting married, having kids, and at last, seemingly in the blink of an eye, entering old age. I nodded along as the scenes changed and found myself tearing up. If the defining quality of a main news presenter is the ability to charge forward full steam ahead, all the time, I guess the title is rightfully mine. (Although “aspiring journalist, currently a bit worn down from the cares of professional life” is how I would prefer to introduce myself.) .
I was a news presenter for the SBS eight o’clock news for eight years and currently hold the title of DJ for a radio program, as well as storyteller and MC for current affairs, educational, and entertainment programming.
I am always thinking about what we can do to make the world a better place.
