Director, McKinsey & Company Shanghai Office

Dr. Ingo Beyer von Morgenstern is a Director in the Shanghai office of McKinsey & Company. Prior to moving to Shanghai this year, he was with the Munich office for 19 years.

Dr. Beyer von Morgenstern is Managing Director of McKinsey’s Asia High Tech Practice and co-leads the Global High Tech Practice. Previously, he was the leader of the European High Tech Practice. Dr. Beyer von Morgenstern has served several multinational clients in the telecom, computer hardware, and industrial electronics industries on strategic, operational and organizational tasks. His recent work has focused on profit improvement, enhancing growth, and the development of new product and regional strategies. He has also helped clients with globalization and corporate governance issues.

Prior to joining McKinsey in 1985, Dr. Beyer von Morgenstern worked as a research and teaching assistant at the Technical University of Munich. He then served as an assistant to the Managing Director of Fuchs Oil Corporation, where he helped develop their business in the US.

Dr. Beyer von Morgenstern holds an MBA from INSEAD, Fontainebleau, and a PhD in thermo and fluid dynamics from the Technical University of Munich, where he teaches graduate and post-graduate students on the strategic and operational challenges facing managers in the high tech industry. He frequently contributes his perspectives on regulatory issues in the telecom industry to the World Economic Forum.
