Robert Chua

Robert Chua, a highly respected veteran in the television industry, currently is the founder and chairman of TIC, The Interactive Channel Co. Ltd., which was launched on Hong Kong Cable TV on 12 December 2004.
Robert Chua studied and worked in the television industry in Australia, starting out his career by joining Australia ADS Channel 7 in 1963. After working in various areas within the industry, he became Production Manager at Television Broadcast Ltd., producing the first “Miss Hong Kong”, “Enjoy yourself Tonight” and many other programs. In 1974, he set up his own production company called Robert Chua Production House Company in Hong Kong, specializing in the production of corporate videos, TV commercials, TV programs and the distribution of overseas TV programs to Hong Kong and China. RCP is the first foreign media company to enter the Chinese TV media market. In 1994, he became Chairman and CEO of CETV, creating and distributing many top-rated programs such as “You Be The Judge” and “Everyone Wins”. He sold the company to the Time Warner/Tom Group in 2003.
He has been recognized by the Chinese government and many other institutions for his efforts and contributions to the broadcasting industry. He was named “TV Whiz Kid” in an article published in the Chinese Communist Party newspaper with restricted circulation for the Communist Party members, invited to attend major national events including the Sixth National Congress of the China Federations of the Chinese Writers Association, and appointed as guest professor at Nanjing University. He was also appointed to the Advisory Board of Rose d’Or TV Festival in Switzerland, as Board Member of NATPE and was awarded as ‘Pioneer for Television Broadcasting’in Hong Kong.
