Stephen Bear
Managing Partner, McKinsey&Company Seoul Office
Stephen Bear is a Director who currently leads McKinsey’s practice in Korea. He and his family relocated to Seoul in January of 2004 from Canada. Stephen focuses predominantly on serving clients in the financial services, industrial, and packaged goods industries. He is a leader in the Firm’s Organization Practice where he has a particular interest in leadership and leadership transitions. Stephen also serves as a member of McKinsey’s Shareholder Council.
Before joining McKinsey in 1987, Stephen ran a family-owned group with interests in automotive retailing, mining, agriculture, and property development in South Africa. He holds a bachelor of commerce degree from the University of Natal (South Africa) and an MBA from Tulane University (U.S.A.), where he earned the Outstanding Graduate Award. He is married to Dianne and they have two children, Jason and Katie, both of whom are at university in Canada.
