Hee-Min Kwon
Executive Vice President & Head of Digital Solution Center, Samsung Electronics
Dr. H. M. Kwon heads both the Samsung Electronics Digital Solution Center which integrates multimedia technologies with the wider R&D and business objectives of Samsung Electronics. He was appointed to the Executive Vice President and Head of Digital Solution Center in 2005.
Dr. Kwon began his professional career as a researcher in various prestigious technical institutes from 1978 to 1996 (including the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena and the Swiss Institute of Nuclear Research). He joined Samsung Electronics in 1996 as a Managing Director of the Corporate Multimedia Planning & Multimedia Lab.
He was promoted to Senior Vice President & General Manager of the company's Information Media Lab in 1999 and attained his current position in 2004. His team sought to articulate new business platforms and markets for Home, Personal and Mobile Multimedia applications. The team took advantage of the full range of company resources to develop innovative multimedia products with strong market potential that can extend Samsung's business into new media arenas.
Dr. Kwon graduated with a B.A. in Physics from Seoul National University in 1974, and received his Ph. D. in Physics from the California Institute of Technology in 1981.
