Gordon Orr
Director, Global Leader of Strategy Practice, Asia Leader of ICT Climate Change Initiative, McKinsey&Company
Gordon is a Director in McKinsey & Company’s Asian Practice. He led McKinsey’s Greater China practice for many years and is now head of their Asian Strategy practice, including their work on climate change. Gordon has been based in North Asia since 1993.
Gordon serves clients most frequently on strategy, partnership and related organization challenges. In Korea and in China, he is widely recognized for his expertise on developing and implementing globalization strategy organically and through acquisition.
Gordon was the Asian lead on McKinsey’s recent work with more than 20 business, government and NGO leaders to understand the role of ICT in creating and mitigating carbon emissions.
Gordon is chief editor of the Chinese edition of the McKinsey Quarterly, the coauthor of Granularity of Growth - Asia and a regular contributor on China issues to Chinese and English business publications.
Prior to joining McKinsey in 1986, Gordon worked with GKN, the UK based automotive component manufacturer. Gordon graduated in electrical engineering from Oxford University and as a Baker Scholar from Harvard Business School.
