Joo-Hyung Kim
President, LG Economic Research Institute
Dr. Joo-Hyung Kim is currently President of LGERI, one of the most respected private research institutes in Korea. He is an economist who has been suggesting effective economic policies and providing insights on major economic issues occurring both at home and abroad.
During his career at Korea Institute for Industrial Economics & Trade (KIET), LGERI, LG Investment & Securities, and LG Corp., Dr. Kim conducted a number of significant research projects in a successful manner in the field of macroeconomics, financial markets and some other industries. With such unique experiences, Dr. Kim earned the reputation as a managing executive with profound knowledge and strong leadership. Especially in the early days of LGERI, he not only led the group of researchers in developing macroeconomic econometric models, but also made tremendous contribution in establishing the foundations for the growth of LGERI. Moreover, not long after he was appointed as head of the Research Center at LG Investment & Securities, the Center has transformed it into the best analyst organization in the nation.
In 2006, as the Executive Vice President of Management at LG Corp., Dr. Kim strived for management innovation and performance improvement of LG’s subsidiaries in electronic businesses until he was appointed as President of LGERI in 2007.
Dr. Kim did his undergraduate work in economics and received a B.A. from Seoul National University. He holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Wisconsin at Madison.
