Bo-Sun Yoo Bo-Sun Yoo

Professor, Korean Literature, Gunsan National University

Born in Seoul in 1962, Yoo, Bosun received a Ph.D. in Literature from Seoul National University.

He made an impressive debut as a literary critic in 1989 when he won Shinchoon Munye Annual Literary Prize for a critical essay, For The New Horizon of Korean Literature of a Divided Country: On Kim Won-il's Literary Works. Since then he has paid in his critical essays special attention to the uniqueness and problematic issues of Korean literature.

Yoo published collections of critical essays, Wondrous Differences and Other Voices, in which he draws a detailed map of Korean literary scene and finds new possibilities of Korean literature. In Political Unconsciousness of Modern Korean Literature, Yoo analyzes the birth and development of Modern Korean literature in the aspect of Korea's semi-periphery position in the world powers.

Yoo, Bosun won Hyundae Munhak Literary Prize and Sochon Prize for Literary Criticism. He teaches Korean Literature at Gunsan National University and is currently an editorial advisor to a literary magazine, Munhakdongne.
