Sang-Soo Ahn Sang-Soo Ahn

Mayor of Incheon Metropolitan City

Ahn, Sang-soo was elected Mayor of Incheon Metropolitan City in 2002 and reelected in 2006. He was a member of the 15th Korean National Assembly.

Mayor Ahn has put every resource to transforming Incheon into a hub of Northeast Asia through establishing Korea's first “Free Economic Zone” and hosting the 2014 Incheon Asian Games. Recently, his accomplishments have caught international attention. Nan Kai University, one of China's preeminent universities, granted him an honorary doctorate. Most notably, the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, part of Smithsonian Institution in the United States, chose Mayor Ahn at the recipient for ‘the Woodrow Wilson Award for Public Service’ in September 2009.

Starting his career as a businessman in the 1970s, he served as Director, Auditor and Vice President of Tongyang Orion Investment Trust Securities, CEO of Tongyang Orion Futures Trading America, Director of Dacom Inc., and President of the Tongyang Group's General Planning Office. He played a critical role as the CEO of large corporations in developing the Korean economy for 17 years. Based on his abundant experience, he has published several books, including New York Chose Bloomberg, International Finance Futures Trading and MBA Curriculum.

He received a BA from Seoul National University in Korea. He then went on to acquire an MBA from both Seoul National University and Troy State University in the United States. He was the first Korean to acquire registration as an Associated Person by the American National Futures Association. He also completed courses related to economics from tenKorean and overseas universities.
