Concertmaster, Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra

Charismatic violinist, Svetlin Roussev is Concertmaster of the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra, and since 2007, Principal Guest Concertmaster of the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra.

Invited as a soloist by different orchestras, he played under conductors as Myung-Whun Chung, Léon Fleisher, Yehudi Menuhin, Yuzo Toyama, Marek Janowski, Raymond Leppard, etc. Roussev started to play the violin with his mother, professor at the music school of Ruse, in Bulgaria, until he entered the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris in the classes of Gérard Poulet, Dévy Erlih and Jean-Jacques Kantorow in 1991. In 1994, the jury unanimously awarded him First Prize for violin summa cum laude and First Prize for chamber music, he then entered the post-graduate program.

He was voted "Revelation of the year 2000" by the ADAMI at the French industry music festival Midem of Cannes and was selected for sponsorship by the Natexis-Banques Populaires Corporate Foundation. The concertmaster experience with the London Symphony Orchestra or the London Philharmonic Orchestra and conductors such as Myung-Whun Chung, Lorin Maazel or Daniel Harding allowed him to approach intimately the orchestral work with the musical vision of each conductor, which nourished his own interpretations.

Svetlin Roussev is Musician of the Year 2006 in Bulgaria, and was awarded in 2007 the Cristal Lyra, distinction of the Ministry of Culture of Bulgaria. He has just been appointed violin professor at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris.
