Won-Bok Rhie
Professor, Communication Design, Duksung Women’s University / Author, <Far Lands, Neighbor Countries>
After studying the Architecture at the College of Engineering of Seoul National University, Professor Rhie studied design and visual communication at Münster University in Germany, where he received a Diplom Designer degree and was also honored with the university’s President’s Award. Rhie has since held numerous private exhibitions, beginning in 1985 on invitation by the city of Münster and other cities.
From 1998 to 2000, he served as the President of the Korean Society of Cartoon and Animation and is currently a professor at Duksung Women’s University.
Since 1987, his series has been a bestseller in Korea, appealing to readers of all ages. He also recently served as a judge at the 2009 Bologna Children’s Book Fair in Italy – the first Korean illustrator to be selected. He has received numerous accolades, including the First Prizes for and from the Korea Publication Ethics Commission
