Dae-Je Chin Dae-Je Chin

President and CEO of Skylake Incuvest Co. / Former Minister of the Ministry of Information and Communication of Korea (2010)

In 2003, Chin Daeje was appointed Minister of the Ministry of Information and Communication of Korea. During his three-year tenure, he helped Korea to become the leading ICT (Information and Communications Technology) country in the world. In particular, the IT839 strategy which he pushed ahead is well known both domestically and globally. His achievements include the development and successful worldwide standardization of WiBro (or mobile WiMAX) and Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB).

He is currently President and CEO of Skylake Incuvest Co, a principal investment firm in Korea that focuses on private equity investments in the ICT and converged ICT industry with total funds under management of US$260 million.

He has received numerous awards, including the Stars of Asia Award from Business Week in 2005, the Techno CEO Award from the Ministry of Science & Technology of Korea in 2002, and The Golden Tower Medal from the President of Korea in 2001. In 2009, as chairman of the organizing committee for the Global Fair & Festival, Incheon Korea 2009, he contributed substantially to promoting Incheon throughout the world.

He holds a BS in Electronics Engineering from Seoul National University, an MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Massachusetts, and a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University. He currently runs an Advanced Management Program offered to CEO’s in the hi-tech area as a chair professor at the Korea Advance Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST).
