Se-Hoon Oh Se-Hoon Oh

Mayor, Seoul Metropolitan Government (2011)

Oh Se-hoon is the mayor of Seoul. In July 2010, he became the first Seoul mayor to be reelected. From 1996 to 2000, he served as Chair of the Legal Committee and a member of the Standing Committee of the Korea Federation for Environmental Movement.

Elected a member of the 16th National Assembly in 2000, he joined the National Policy Committee and the National Assembly Budget Settlement Committee in 2002. Until 2004, he served as Executive Secretary of the Special Committee on Political Reform in the National Assembly and a member of the Standing Committee of the Grand National Party.

With Mayor Oh’s strong leadership and commitment to innovative public administration and creative urban design, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in 2010 ranked Seoul the ninth most competitive city in the world. Oh is striving to maintain the momentum of Seoul’s rise, with the goal of making the city the fifth most competitive.

He is the author of the book Nothing is Impossible in Seoul(2010), Shift Your Frame of Thinking(2009), Failure Offers Seeds of Hope(2005), and When a Lawyer Wants to Cry(1995). He has hosted TV shows such as Today and Tomorrow on SBS and Lawyer Oh and Lawyer Bae on MBC.

He received his BA and MA in commercial law and PhD in the code of civil procedure from Korea University. He has been a practicing member of the Korean Bar for years.
