Ha-Woong Jeong

Jeong Hawoong received his BS in 1991 and PhD in 1998, both from Seoul National University. After completing his postdoctoral research at the University of Notre Dame in the United States, he moved back to Korea in 2001 and since then has been a professor of physics at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology(KAIST).
He is currently running the Complex Systems and Statistical Physics Laboratory. Jeong’s broad research interests include the structure and dynamics of complex networks, bio-physics, socio/econo-physics, molecular dynamic simulations and computational methods in statistical physics.
He has published more than 80 papers in renowned science journals, including Nature and the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences(PNAS) with over 8,600 accumulated citations. In March 2009, he was awarded the Grand Prize in Excellence in Teaching at KAIST and in May 2010 he was named as the Scientist of the Month.
Further, Jeong has recently been selected one of 100 people who will lead Korea in the year 2020 by the Dong-A Ilbo, a daily newspaper.
