Maps and data not only represent reality, but increasingly define presence in political processes.
To be off the map is to be absent from the discussion, and there is a strong correlation between politically, culturally and economically marginalized communities and blank spots on the map.
OpenStreetMap (OSM), known for the inclusiveness of its geographical data, is fast becoming the most widely-used commons-based online map of the world.
