The Power of Interaction : Smart Solutions for Transportation Problems

Cars sit idle in parking lots 92 of the time and 80 of the vehicles on the road are single-driver cars. Transportation is fundamentally a social issue, and a thorny one to tackle. SOCAR has successfully made its car-sharing service a viable and attractive transportation option for drivers. Kim Jiman, founder of SOCAR, identifies the conditions required to overcome what is conventionally considered impossible. Having popularized the car-sharing service, he now tells us the stories behind the launch of Poolus, a new on-demand carpooling service that aims to tackle the issue of single-driver cars.

From Empathy to Community : Making Our Society A Better Place

Over the past several decades we have witnessed dazzling technological advances in our society. Those who benefit from such developments, however, remain to be the privileged few. There still exist a large number of people who are not able to fully enjoy basic human rights, with social divides getting deeper and more permanent. Against this sobering backdrop have emerged social enterprises that aim to tackle issues relating to social inequality and basic human rights. Delight and house-sharing platform WOOZOO are two of such startups. Kim Jung Hyeon, one of Korea’s first serial social entrepreneurs, explores a sustainable service model that can solve social problems while creating economic value. Based on his own experience, he illustrates how WOOZOO’s alternative housing solution is generating new economic and social values.

To be followed by the conversation between Kim Jiman & Kim Jung Hyeon.
