CHO Young-Jun is an economic historian specializing in the commercial and fiscal history of the late Joseon dynasty, drawing on his extensive knowledge of historical documents. His research also examines historical changes in the physical stature of Koreans, including height, as a means of investigating long-term trends in living standards.

He has conducted a wide range of scholarly projects tracing the historical trajectory of the Korean economy, including the digitization and reassessment of premodern historical sources. More recently, he has also been promoting academic exchange and developing online video content to introduce Korea’s model of economic development and its achievements to international audiences.

He is currently Professor of Economics in the College of Social Sciences at Seoul National University.
