He later served as Head of Neurosurgery at the Seoul District Military Hospital and as a clinical fellow at Hanyang University Hospital.

In 2008, he joined SBS as a medical correspondent, covering medicine and public health for more than 16 years. His reporting has received major honors including the Korea Broadcasting Awards, the Journalist of the Year Award, and the Democratic Media Award.

From 2017, he spent a year as a visiting scholar at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. He is currently a Specialized Professor at YK Intercollege, Hanyang University, and also works as a contributing journalist for SBS.

Drawing on his experience in both clinical medicine and journalism, his work focuses on how medical evidence is interpreted and communicated through the media and society, and on how the gap between medicine and the public can be narrowed.

His books include Are You Sleeping Well? and Humanities That Help You Think, Vol. 24: Medicine: What Does Healthcare for All Mean? He also contributed the chapter “The Role of Mass Media in Suicide Prevention” to the Korean Association for Suicide Prevention textbook Everything About Suicide Prevention: Theory and Policy.
