Jung-Hyeon Kim
Founder and CEO, Delight / WOOZOO
One of Korea’s most prominent young social entrepreneurs, Kim Jung Hyeon became interested in social business in college and founded the manufacturer/distributor of affordable hearing aids Delight in 2009 at the age of 24. Under his leadership, Delight grew to be an exceptionally successful social enterprise that achieves both its economic and social missions.
With the success of Delight under his belt, Jung Hyeon founded with some of its executives the house-sharing startup WOOZOO in 2012, and the startup has been growing steadily ever since.
He is currently a professor by special appointment in the Department of Business Administration at the Catholic University of Korea, and is also an active investor and supporter of youth social entrepreneurship as the youngest ‘professional angel investor’ accredited by the South Korean government. He is also a co-founder of 'Dreaming Alley', an art education organization for lower-income families, and has been working relentlessly in various fields in order to effectively solve social problems both through direct and indirect investments in start-ups, either commercial or nonprofit.
He was the winner of the 'Social Enterprise Competition' held by the Ministry of Employment and Labor in 2010. In the following year, he received the 2011 President's Award for Republic of Korea Talents. In 2013, he was awarded the Young Entrepreneur of the Year by the Korean government and Forbes also named him 'Entrepreneur of the Year’. In 2012, Delight became the first B Corp-certified enterprise in East Asia. Jung Hyeon has been an active member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Shapers Seoul Hub since 2013.
In 2015, He became the first Korean to appear on the list of 'The Social Entrepreneurs of the Year’ by the Schwab Foundation.
